What is halogen-free fire retardant nylon？

It is known to all traditional nylon yarn and other texitle fibers without FR(fire retardant) addictive are likely to creat massive damage to humans and environment. Synthetic yarn burn quickly and usually contine to burn even the flame is removed. Sythetic yarns shrink from the flame, melt and often drip (GANGER), leaving a hard plastic like head and potentially harming victims with second-degree burns; The toxic content of sythetic also creat hazardous smoke that kill people; Burn fabrics without FR addictive will produce black smoke and hazadous fumes. Nylon smells like plastic when burnt but can also produce a celery-lie smell, chemical smell.

Flame retardants are activated by the presence of an ignition source and are intended to prevent or slow the further development of ignition by a variety of different physical and chemical methods. They may be added as a copolymer during the polymerisation of a polymer, mixed with polymer at an moulding or extrusion process or, in particular for textiles, applied as a topical finish. Mineral flame retardants are typically additive while organohalogen and organophosphorus compounds can be either reactive or additive.

For fire retardant additive, they can be classified into twp types: halogen and halogen-free. However, halogens can be harmful or lethal to biological organisms in sufficient quantities. Therefore to research and develop halogen free retardant nylon yarn is a innevitable trend.

Testing Reports

In September 2018, the fabric knitted by our FR yarn was sent to China National Texitle Supervision Testing center, then a convincing result of LOI around 32 with other good mechancial properties came out as expected.
